Washington, DC—Today, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) and Rep. Austin Scott (R-GA), both members of the House Armed Services Committee, introduced H.R. 4108, a bipartisan bill to end U.S. efforts to overthrow the Syrian Arab Republic led by President Bashar al-Assad.

Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, a twice-deployed combat veteran, said the intent of the bill is to “Bring an immediate end to the illegal, counter-productive war to overthrow the Syrian government of Assad.”

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard explained,“The U.S. is waging two wars in Syria. The first is the war against ISIS and other Islamic extremists, which Congress authorized after the terrorist attack on 9/11.  The second war is the illegal war to overthrow the Syrian government of Assad.

“The war to overthrow Assad is counter-productive because it actually helps ISIS and other Islamic extremists achieve their goal of overthrowing the Syrian government of Assad and taking control of all of Syria—which will simply increase human suffering in the region, exacerbate the refugee crisis, and pose a greater threat to the world.  Also, the war to overthrow Assad is illegal because Congress never authorized it.”

Congressman Austin Scott said, “Our primary mission should be the war against ISIS, al Qaeda, and radical Islamic extremists that have operations both inside and outside of Syria and Iraq.  Those groups have carried out attacks on American allies, and are currently threatening attacks on our homeland.  This represents a clear and present danger to our citizens, and I support eliminating these radical Islamic terrorists through any means necessary.  Working to remove Assad at this stage is counter-productive to what I believe our primary mission should be.”

Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard said, “Here are 10 reasons the U.S. must end its war to overthrow the Syrian government of Assad:
1.     Because if we succeed in overthrowing the Syrian government of Assad, it will open the door for ISIS, al-Qaeda, and other Islamic extremists to take over all of Syria.  There will be genocide and suffering on a scale beyond our imagination.  These Islamic extremists will take over all the weaponry, infrastructure, and military hardware of the Syrian army and be more dangerous than ever before.

2.     Because overthrowing the Syrian government of Assad is the goal of ISIS, al-Qaeda, and other Islamic extremist groups. We should not be allying ourselves with these Islamic extremists by helping them achieve their goal because it is against the security interests of the United States and all of civilization.

3.     Because the money and weapons the CIA is providing to overthrow the Syrian government of Assad are going directly or indirectly into the hands of the Islamic extremist groups, including al-Qaeda affiliates, al-Nusra, Ahrar al-Sham, and others who are the actual enemies of the United States.  These groups make up close to 90 percent of the so-called opposition forces, and are the most dominant fighters on the ground.

4.     Because our efforts to overthrow Assad have increased and will continue to increase the strength of ISIS and other Islamic extremists, thus making them a bigger regional and global threat.

5.     Because this war has exacerbated the chaos and carnage in Syria and, along with the terror inflicted by ISIS and other Islamic extremist groups fighting to take over Syria, continues to increase the number of Syrians forced to flee their country.

6.     Because we should learn from our past mistakes in Iraq and Libya that U.S. wars to overthrow secular dictators (Saddam Hussein and Muammar Gaddafi) cause even more chaos and human suffering and open the door for Islamic extremists to take over in those countries.

7.     Because the U.S. has no credible government or government leader ready to bring order, security, and freedom to the people of Syria.

8.     Because even the ‘best case’ scenario—that the U.S. successfully overthrows the Syrian government of Assad—would obligate the United States to spend trillions of dollars and the lives of American service members in the futile effort to create a new Syria.  This is what we have been trying to do in Iraq for twelve years, and we still have not succeeded.  The situation in Syria will be much more difficult than in Iraq.

9.     Because our war against the Syrian government of Assad is interfering with our being one-pointedly focused on the war to defeat ISIS, al-Qaeda, and the other Islamic extremists who are our actual enemy.

10.  Because our war to overthrow the Assad government puts us in direct conflict with Russia and increases the likelihood of war between the United States and Russia and the possibility of another world war.”

Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard said, “To destroy ISIS will take international alliances.  If we are serious about defeating ISIS and solving the refugee problem, we’ll work in partnership with Russia, France, and anyone else who is serious about destroying ISIS and affiliated Islamic extremist organizations worldwide.

“The problem is, because the U.S. is trying to overthrow the Syrian government of Assad and Russia is supporting the government of Assad, it is impossible for us to have an effective, cooperative relationship with Russia in our mutual fight against ISIS.  Our focus on overthrowing Assad is interfering with our ability to destroy ISIS.”

“We must immediately end the illegal, counter-productive war to overthrow the Syrian government of Assad and ally ourselves with any countries willing to focus on destroying the Islamic extremists who pose a genuine threat to civilization,” Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard concluded.

Tulsi Gabbard, spent her life growing up in beautiful Hawai‘i. As a teenager, she co-founded an environmental non-profit called Healthy Hawai’i Coalition, focused on educating children about protecting Hawaii’s environment. An advocate for environmental policy, Tulsi was elected to the Hawai‘i State Legislature in 2002 when she was just 21 years old, becoming the youngest person ever elected in the state. A year later, she joined the Hawai‘i Army National Guard to serve Hawai‘i and our country. In 2004, Tulsi volunteered to deploy with her fellow soldiers, becoming the first state official to voluntarily step down from public office to serve in a war zone.
Tulsi served two tours of duty in the Middle East, and she continues her service as a Major in the Army National Guard. Tulsi’s 2005 deployment was a 12-month tour at Logistical Support Area Anaconda in Iraq, where she served in a field medical unit as a specialist with a 29th Support Battalion medical company. She was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal at the end of this tour.
In between her two tours, Tulsi served in the U.S. Senate as a legislative aide to Senator Daniel Akaka (D-HI), where she advised him on energy independence, homeland security, the environment, and veteran issues. While working for Senator Akaka in 2007, Tulsi graduated from the Accelerated Officer Candidate School at the Alabama Military Academy, where she was the first woman to finish as the distinguished honor graduate in the Academy’s 50-year history. Tulsi was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and again assigned to the 29th Brigade Special Troops Battalion of the Hawaiʻi Army National Guard—this time to serve as the Military Police Platoon Leader.
Tulsi continued to work for Senator Akaka until 2009, when she again voluntarily deployed with her unit to the Middle East. During this second deployment, in addition to leading her platoon on a wide variety of security missions, she also conducted non-military host-nation visits and served as a primary trainer for the Kuwait National Guard. Tulsi was one of the first women to set foot inside a Kuwait military facility and became the first woman to ever be awarded and honored by the Kuwait National Guard for her work in their training and readiness program.
In 2010, Tulsi was elected to the Honolulu City Council, serving as Chair of the Safety, Economic Development, and Government Affairs Committee and Vice Chair of the Budget Committee. In 2011, she visited Indonesia as part of a peacekeeping training with the Indonesian Army. Tulsi was elected in 2012 to the United States House of Representatives, serving Hawaii’s 2nd District. She is one of the first two female combat veterans to ever serve in the U.S. Congress, and also its first and only Hindu member.
Now in her second term in Congress, Tulsi brings with her a broad range of real world experience, a storehouse of personal strength, and tested leadership as she represents the people of Hawai’i and our nation in Congress. As she works on the challenges that face our country, she remains focused on bringing her pragmatic approach to working in a collaborative, bipartisan fashion to find real solutions that best serve the people. Tulsi serves on the House Armed Services Committee and House Foreign Affairs Committee where she is a strong advocate for veterans, our service members, and making smart strategic decisions that best secure our nation. Tulsi is working every day to make sure we have a sustainable economy that works for all families, with access to affordable health care, good jobs, and a quality education.

Εντός Των “Προσφυγικών Κέντρων”: Ένας Εργαζόμενος Μιλά ~ Inside The “Refugee Centers:” A Worker Speaks…! (Photo)

A perfect example of the sheer stupidity of western leaders without any experience of conflicts, let alone of a culture that is alien to Europe… Those pretend “refugees” are likely to be deserters from the Syrian, Afghan or Iraqi armies, more interested in predation on European gullible than fighting for their countries. In Germany the scandal of so-called refugees from Afghanistan – 13 years of NATO’s antics! – has been going on for years at the expense of German taxpayers… In the meantime the German government refuses entry visas for genuine (European) refugees from the Ukrainian civil war.

Death threats against welfare workers, aggressive behavior, lies, forged documents, verbal abuse, misogyny, sexual attacks, and even physical assaults—these are the daily burdens which German social workers in the “refugee centers” have to face, according to a disillusioned employee who has broken her silence.

A provocation too far?

It is of course too early to anticipate all the consequences of the downing of the Russian Su24 bomber jet by the Turkish airforce. One thing is however certain: such act of war cannot deter the determination of the Russian Federation, and that of its allies, Syria and Iran, in their fight to liberate Syria. This “coalition of two”, to paraphrase the president of the USA, is in fact well on its way to eradicate the scourge of daesh/ISIL and its supporters.

In the meantime the measures announced by the Russian MoD promise one thing: the climate is now getting hotter for the enemies of Syria, and particularly the fascistic government of Turkey and their proxies.

Speech of the Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Lt.Gen. Sergei Rudskoy on provocative actions of the Turkish Air Force

Today, at 10:24 (MSK) an F-16 fighter of the Turkish Air Force shot down Su-24M tactical bomber of the Russian Aerospace Forces, which was performing a combat sortie over the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic. The fighter supposedly performed the strike with IR homing headed short-range missile.

The objective monitoring data confirmed that the Turkish warplane did not make any attempt to establish a communication or visual contact with the Russian bomber.

The missile hit the Su-24M aircraft over the territory of Syria. The bomber crash place is on the territory of Syria four kilometres far from the borderline. The Su-24M crew managed to eject. According to the preliminary data, fire from the ground killed one of the pilots.

The objective monitoring data shows that the Russian aircraft did not cross the Turkish borderline.

Data received from the Syrian Air Defence Forces confirmed this fact as well.

Moreover, radar reconnaissance data, which was received from the Hmeymim airbase, registered Syrian airspace violation by the attacking aircraft of the Turkish Air Force.

This fact is assessed as a flagrant violation of international law with extremely grave consequences and the direct breach of Memorandum on air incident prevention and flight safety over the Syrian Arab Republic, which had been signed by the USA and relevant for all countries of the coalition, including Turkey.

That is why the Turkish party started urgent consultations with the NATO instead of immediate contacting with the Russian Defence Ministry.

Defence Attaché of Turkey in the Russian Federation was presented a decisive protest against the actions of the Turkish Air Force, which had led to the loss of the Russian aircraft.

It is to be mentioned that from the beginning of the operation, the Russian Defence Ministry had established a direct telephone line between the National Centre for State Defence Control of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of National Defence of Turkey. But it has no practical use due to the fault of the Turkish party.

In order to evacuate the Russian pilots from the landing point, a search-and-rescue operation was conducted by two Mi-8 helicopters. In the course of the operation, one of helicopters was damaged by small arms fire and performed an emergency landing in the neutral area. One contract serviceman – member of Marine Troops – was killed.

The personnel of the search-and-rescue team and the helicopter crew were evacuated and are now at the Hmeymim airbase. The helicopter was destroyed by mortar fire conducted from the territory controlled by illegal armed groups.

The operation on searching and rescuing the crew of the Russian bomber is continued.

It is to be emphasized that in the action area of the Russia aviation the Syrian governmental troops are conducting operation on elimination of illegal armed groups, which include over 1000 militants from the North Caucasus according to the Russian data sources.

It is to be stressed that none of the Russian partners and none of the states, which are fighting against ISIS, has mentioned that there are units of so-called “moderate opposition” in that they do not recommend to make strikes in this area. On the contrary, these territories are known as the ones controlled by the most radical illegal armed groups.

Now the General Staff is elaborating additional security measures for the Russian airbase.

First: All the activities of the attack aviation will be carried out only under cover of fighter aircraft.

Second: Air defence will be reinforced. For that purpose, the Moskva cruiser equipped with air defence system Fort analogous to the S-300 one will go to the shore zone of Latakia. Russian Defence Ministry warns that all the potentially dangerous targets will be destroyed.

Third: Contacts with Turkey will be terminated at the military level.

In the meantime… In the course of last two days aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces in the Syrian Arab Republic have performed 107 combat sorties engaging 289 terrorist facilities

In the course of last two days, November 11 and 12, the aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces in the Syrian Arab Republic have performed 107 combat sorties engaging 289 terrorist facilities in Aleppo, Damascus, Idlib, Latakia, Hama, Homs, Daraa, and Deir-ez-Zor provinces.

Strikes of the Russian aviation caused destruction of 34 command and control centers of illegal armed groups, 16 POL and ammunition depots, 2 plants used for producing munitions and improvised explosives devices, 3 bases and terrorists’ training camps, 50 strong points with combat hardware and weapons, and 184 fortified areas and defensive positions.

Near Maarrat al-Nu’man (Idlib province), a Su-34 bomber destroyed a plant of the Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist group. The object was used for producing rockets and improvised explosive devices, and fitting vehicles with EDs. The air strike resulted in complete destruction of both buildings, which the plant was deployed in.

In suburbs of Rasm al-Aboud (Aleppo province), through information provided by the civilians, the Russian UAVs registered a well-hidden concentration of the Jabhat al-Nusra’s armored vehicles.

Two tanks, three armored vehicles, and four automobiles equipped with large-caliber machine guns were eliminated by direct hits.

In suburbs of Jasim (Daraa province), the Russian Su-34 bomber destroyed an underground ammunition depot of the ISIS illegal armed groups. The direct hit by BETAB-500 air bomb caused detonation of explosives and complete destruction of the object.

Near Jebel-Mgar mountain (Damascus province), the ISIS illegal armed group ammunition depot was hit. During two days rockets were stealthily delivered to the object in small-sized batches. The rockets were supposed to be used for the renewal of bombardment against the Syrian capital. Pinpoint strike at the building with munitions caused complete destruction.

Near Taniyyat al-Rujma passage (Homs province), Su-24M carried out a strike against the ISIS strong point. The strike destroyed fortifications, three mortars and field ammunition depot of terrorists.

In suburbs and al-Latamna (Hama province), a large ammunition depot of Jabhat al-Nusra was eliminated. The Su-34 bomb strike destroyed two buildings with reactive and artillery projectiles, mortar shells and munitions.

In suburbs of Kdin (Latakia province), command and observation post of Jabhat al-Nusra was destroyed. Pinpoint strike resulted in complete destruction of terrorists’ building.

In the course of aerial reconnaissance operation held near Mayadin (Deir-ez-Zor province), a column of petrol trucks was registered heading on the Syrian-Iraqi border. According to the gained data, the trucks were transporting crude oil taken from the ISIS-controlled oil fields to refueling plants of terrorists located at the Iraq territory. On-duty Su-34 bomber hit the column of trucks. The objective monitoring data confirms elimination of the column.

The civilians are actively joining self-defence units in provinces of Latakia, Tartus, Homs, Hama, Idlib and Damascus. According to the Syrian General Staff, strength of the units exceeds 4,000 people.

After necessary training, the volunteers are involved in performing tasks concerning protecting inhabited areas from terrorists and guarding important facilities and transportation lanes. The assistance provided by civilians allows to release units of regular forces from the rear and to form necessary reserve forces in order to develop offensive against terrorists’ territories.

Units of militia in cooperation with Mukhabarat and governmental forces are actively taking part in fighting terrorists near Damascus and Aleppo as well as in northern Latakia province.

According to the data received from the Informational Center in Baghdad, field commanders of illegal armed groups in Latakia received an order on urgent evacuation of all material values and modern samples of armament deep into the uncontrolled territories of terrorists.

“In the course of the last 24 hours, aircraft of the Russian air group in the Syrian Arab Republic have continued making pinpoint strikes against ISIS infrastructural facilities”

From Russian Ministry of Defence, Syria Air Group, 19 October 2015

#RussiaVsISILIn the course of the last 24 hours, aircraft of the Russian air group in the Syrian Arab Republic have continued making pinpoint strikes against ISIS infrastructural facilities.

Russian aviation performed 33 combat sorties from the Hmeymim airbase engaging 49 ISIS facilities in the Aleppo, Damascus, Idlib, Lattakia and Hama provinces.

During the last 24 hours, the strikes of the Russian aviation resulted in elimination of the following targets:

  • 2 command centres of illegal armed groups;
  • 3 depots with ammunition and armament;
  • 2 underground bunkers;
  • 32 firing positions in mountain-woody areas;
  • 9 fortified firing positions of illegal armed groups;
  • a workshop used for production of launching ramps and rocket projectiles.

During an air reconnaissance mission near Al-Ess (Idlib province), Russian UAVs uncovered a command centre of one of the Jabhat al-Nusra units.

After additional reconnaissance check through other channels, a Su-24 bomber made an airstrike against the object. The hit of an air bomb resulted in destruction of the command centre and 2 trucks equipped with AA artillery systems ZU-23 near it.

Near Jubb al-Zarus (Hama province), a Su-34 bomber made an airstrike with guided bombs on underground shelters with a branched network of exits in different parts of the inhabited area. The direct hits of air bombs destroyed the complex of underground terrorist facilities.

Near Djdayda settlement (Aleppo province), Su-25 attack aircraft eliminated a workshop used for production of self-made rockets. The equipped facility manufactured single-use launching ramps and rockets for distant fire at Syrian Armed Forces’ positions and inhabited areas. The direct hit of an air bomb resulted in detonation of explosives and destruction of the whole facility.

Near Duwayr al-Akrad (Lattakia province), a pair of Su-25 attack aircraft made two successive strikes with high-explosive bombs on a large ISIS training camp detected by means of Russian reconnaissance. The strikes caused complete destruction of the camp and all the training facilities.

Precision strikes of the Russian combat aviation in the Damascus province have crucially changed the operational situation in this region.

The ISIS militants suffering a severe lack of ammunition are leaving their positions in large numbers.

Last night, reconnaissance means registered retreating of several large detachments, about 100-man-strong each, in direction of Marj al-Sultan.

After combat task performance, all the Russian aircraft have returned to the Hmeymim airbase.
