A shortsighted view

More news are coming in at time of writing of senior IT people losing their jobs in London boroughs. While some loss of jobs in the older ranks are to be expected in times of financial duress, I feel that the capital is now at risk of a severe loss of knowledge and experience. Yet the challenges we face in London call for a clinical look at what will work: to build a badly needed infrastructure, compete among other European cities, and compete in the world market for professional skills and talent.
Alas our decision makers, as it were, appear to have their heads in the sand… and more so in the public sector.
